Development of the district of “Les Halles”.
It contains :
- A renewed garden and a public space enlarged for the pedestrians
- Accesses to the pole of transport and to the forum improved
- The project called “Carreau” for the entrance of ”les Halles”
The step of renovation.
It is this point which we are going to detail.
The “Forest canopy” is the project of two Parisian architects, Patric Berger and Jacques Anziutti, held by the international Competition for the renovation of the (1st) Forum of the Halle. The choice of techniques and matérieux environment-friendly are held in this project and will contribute to the sustainable development wished by all. For this project, an international competition of architecture was launched on October 31st, 2006.
January 18th, 2007, the Mayor of Paris chaired the jury which selected 10 teams among 104 presented candidacies, 7 French and 3 foreigners. This selection includes teams internationally recognized, confirmed teams and promising teams: these teams are established by a team of proxy architects associated with several research departments.
The jury met again June 29th and held the project of the architects Patric Berger and Jacques Anziutti. The “Forest canopy” pulls its name of the top of trees in rain forests. It will print its silhouette in the future Forum of the Halle. A “greened” glass roof 11 metres high will cover the new building and this one will be in continuity with the outside garden.
A glass shell
The main front door on Paris (800 000 travelers a day) is going to benefit from a global renovation. The “Forest canopy” thus assures a continuity enter the garden of 4.3 ha and the new building. The room of exchanges with three lines of RER and 5 correspondences of subway will be totally restructured. Big novelty: a glass 11 metres in height shell partially ”greened” will cover the public space. At night, the luminosity of the day will be restored to this patio thanks to techniques of photovoltaism. In the heart of the “Forest canopy”, three big halls will allow the circulation of the travelers and the walkers within “Les Halles”.
Great project isn’t it ?
